2026 MAZDA CX-5 with available options shown above.
Let’s take a moment to give a round of applause to the Mazda CX-5, which has received a fresh redesign and interior update for its 2026 model year. It’s not every day that vehicles within the brand’s portfolio are given full facelifts, so it’s genuinely an exciting time to be a customer here at Mazda of Port Charlotte. Revel in the fun with us by reading what’s new and what you can expect from this compact SUV, then schedule a test drive to see for yourself what has been updated!
Technology
Navigating through Sarasota, playing music, and adjusting your vehicle’s settings will all feel so much grander in the Mazda CX-5 due to the massive infotainment revamp it’s been given. Now home to an optional 15.6-inch touchscreen1, this panel not only outdoes the manufacturer’s prior entries but also many of its competitors as well. It’s cutting-edge enough to support hands-free interactions by way of Google built-in2, which has a built-in Google Assistant2 to help route you to Centennial Park without taking your palms off the steering wheel. Now, having gone fully digital, the standard 10.25-inch LCD meter display is more adjustable than ever before. It clearly presents safety notifications such as the standard Traffic Sign Recognition3 and even shows you song title tracks and album information as you skip through your library.
Performance
Despite these new advancements, the 2026 Mazda CX-5 has held true to the brand’s core identity, and that’s driving dynamics. With its standard i-ACTIV AWD® system and a standard Sport Mode, every bit of its 187 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque is felt each time you speed up. These well-balanced figures are the result of a standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, which utilizes standard Cylinder Deactivation and i-Stop technology to conserve gasoline. The former of the two shuts down half of the powertrain’s cylinders when you’re undergoing low-speed cruising while en route to the Children’s Rainforest Playground. As for the latter, the engine will completely pause its operations when the vehicle is at a standstill, only reactivating once your foot travels away from the brake pedal.
Design
The 2026 Mazda CX-5 takes the familiar KODO design language and emboldens it with a more rugged and angular appearance. Now it flaunts what is known as a “wearable gear” look, which is meant to blend in naturally, regardless of whether you’re traveling in a bustling city or in barren nature. It retains its Mazda Signature Wing grille, but it is now flanked by slimmer standard LED headlights, two elements that create a front end that is simultaneously approachable and aggressive. These new additions look prominent in the Mazda CX-5’s latest color, Navy Blue Mica4, a shade that bears resemblance to the aesthetically pleasing shores in Florida. Fans of the manufacturer will take quick notice of one of the biggest differences on the rear of this SUV, and it’s how the brand’s emblem is replaced with Mazda written out between the standard LED taillamps.
